Evaluation Question 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

I was required to produce a teaser trailer, along with two ancillary tasks which were a magazine front cover and a film poster for my film trailer. Thriller is my chosen genre, so the codes and conventions of a thriller is shown through all my media products. The purpose of a film poster is to advertise the film through the title, the images and actors/actress, designs and taglines. Flowing this would make the poster sellable, attractive and also linking with my other products.

Researching teaser trailers taught me that this is the basis in which the themes, characters, images and colours first derive from. Although my characters in the film aren’t the same as the one on my front cover, I feel they still link. The font, colours and titles are consistent through each product. Therefore a combination of both ancilliary tasks and teaser trailer, helps advertise and promote each other mainly the main product (teaser trailer).
